How do I start dating again?

First off, a few simple details: I am sixteen, in high school, and have not had a date since my last girlfriend died two years ago. The experience kind of scared me away from the entire ‘dating’ scene, but now I feel that I am ready to start again. My inexperience with dating is definitely going to develop into a problem, but I have no way of explaining it without telling the whole story.

My question is, what are some simple things I can do to build a typical high school relationship after not dating for two years?
