You can’t. If you break up with someone that you have been involved with for that long they will be hurt. However, you have to do it in a good way. Always in person…be gentle and be honest about why you are breaking up with the person. Do not put them down and say that you’d like to remain friends if that is what you want. It’s going to be hard of course, but you shouldn’t be in a relationship with someone who you don’t love. Do it quick and get it over with!
You cannot aviod rejection, there is no way around it. What can be done is the truth. She has to face up and tell the truth. Obviously say it in a nice way, but she cant back down. He might get mad with her, but he will respect her because she did not lead him on.
